Our Story

Aldersgate United Methodist Church was born May 24, 1979. It’s name was taken from Aldersgate Street in London, England where John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Revival, had a heart-warming experience with Jesus Christ. He knew in that moment his sins were forgiven and he was forever a child of God. In commemoration of John Wesley’s legacy our very first slogan was: Aldersgate: “The Church with a Heart Warming Touch.” For 28 years Aldersgate has been loving people and changing the world.

Aldersgate loves God and each other. Our Core

Aldersgate has always been a safe place for people to find love, acceptance, restoration, strength and hope. It’s a place to find Jesus. As a church, our focus is to introduce people to the love of Christ and welcome them into His family. We believe discipleship is about loving God. Each one of our members has many opportunities to grow into passionate worshippers, develop Christ-like maturity, share salvation and put love in action by serving others.

United Methodists have believed, from the beginning, that each of us is called to participate in the outreaching ministry of Jesus Christ. John Wesley described this work in simple, practical terms ...Do all the good you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can.

The United Methodist Church

United Methodists believe in the love of God, the power of grace, experienced through Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We also believe in the individuality of each other. Our shared faith in Jesus Christ spans the globe. Currently there are 8.5 million United Methodists living in the U.S. and 1.5 million more worldwide, with the largest growth in membership occurring in Africa and the Philippines. Putting faith and love into action is a heart of The United Methodist Church. Explore More About The United Methodist Church.

"Everyone can be great because everyone can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't even have to make your subject and your verb agree... You only need a heart full of grace...a soul generated by love." —Martin Luther King, Jr.
