Women’s Celebration

Carmen Maxwell is a native of Bryan Texas. She is married to Steve Maxwell. They have two children Cathy and Mike, and a granddaughter Brielle. Carmen is the assistant director for Save Our Streets Ministries, under the direction of JJ Ramirez for the past twenty five years. SOS is a ministry that reaches out to at risk youth and their families in our community. Carmen has led and overseen the SOS teen girl’s ministry that consist of numerous inner-city girls between the ages of 12-18 on a weekly basis. She also leads and oversees the SOS women’s ministry designed for inner-city and local women in our community for the past 25 years. Carmen took in troubled girls into her home for the first 12 years of ministry. She was then led to start the “Walk with Me” mentoring program, providing mentors from our local churches for the homeless, pregnant, and inner city youth of our community. Carmen has lead and organized, lock-ins, sexual abuse retreats, women and teen girls retreats, sexual integrity programs, summer programs, job training, leadership training classes, and “SOS Angel tree” to provide Christmas gifts to inner-city youth. She has also created cross cultural-training, and an intense discipleship program to prepare volunteers for ministry inner-city ministry. SOS Partners with over 50 churches, law enforcements agencies, juvenile systems, schools and over 300 volunteers in our community. Our SOS mission is to bring the love of Jesus to the streets of Bryan and College Station and beyond, to rescue restore and release this generation to enter into their God-given destinies, and to become flourishing productive members of our society.
